Bob makes a smooth move

Banks Long & Co has leased premises in Martindale Lane, which forms part of the increasingly busy Beaumond Cross development, to the entrepreneur.

Robert has taken the plunge and launched RJF Robert Fields Barbershop after years spent gaining experience working for another local barber, and he is offering both traditional and contemporary men’s grooming services.

“As well as doing haircuts, I am also able to offer cut-throat shaves and a male waxing service. I used to provide the latter on a mobile basis,” said Robert.

“Male waxing has not only become more popular thanks to celebrity male models, bodybuilders and top sports people, but it is also a service which men may choose before going to have a tattoo done,” said Robert.

“I chose these premises because I can catch passing trade from people visiting the other stores at Beaumond Cross, including the Asda supermarket, and people using the bus station. In addition, people can easily park on site.”

Robert has put his personal stamp on his premises by ripping out the old ceiling, and creating a private treatment area within the barbers’ shop.

Young customers who are waiting for their dads to have their hair trimmed are not forgotten either, because Robert, who is married to a nurse, Beth, and who has a daughter Xanthe (two), has an X-Box and plenty of other games on hand to keep them amused.

Banks Long & Co Surveyor Harriet Hatcher said: “We are delighted to have leased premises in Martindale Lane to Robert, who joins neighbouring businesses including a gift shop and a Polish supermarket. We wish him well.

“Late last year, Newark family furnisher Holdens took a double unit at Beaumond Cross, for its main store, and 3SIXTY Fitness also opened at the site.”
