SAVOY IS KEEN TO TAKE ITS NAME TO GAINSBOROUGH

Banks Long & Co is delighted to be acting for client Savoy Cinemas Limited in its drive to expand and launch a new 4-screen cinema in another Lincolnshire location.

Managing Director Tim Bradford, who represents Savoy in all new acquisitions, together with his team is appointed to co-ordinate and project manage a new build project in Gainsborough.  The application for this has been lodged with West Lindsey District Council planners.

If approved, the new cinema could create up to 25 new jobs and councillors have said it would make a huge difference to Gainsborough’s evening economy -  boosting footfall by around 120,000 visits a year, by not only providing a wider leisure choice, but also knock-on benefits for local b

The proposed cinema would fill the vacant spot left by Oldrids in 2018.  If the project goes ahead, Lincolnshire Co-op’s travel branch and the Post Office could be relocated elsewhere in the town centre.

Banks Long & Co Managing Director Tim Bradford said: “This is a really exciting proposal by Savoy Cinemas.  The project also includes three commercial units and more parking close to the Market Place.

“This is an ambitious scheme, developed through working collaboratively with committed stakeholders including West Lindsey DC, Lincolnshire Co-op and the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership.  If approved, this development could be a game changer for Gainsborough town centre.”

Given the green light, building could start as early as early Summer 2020, with the new Savoy welcoming its first movie-goers in Summer 2021.
