Q&A With Patrick Ford, Surveyor at Banks Long & Co.

Find out what Patrick found in an old 70's building

How did the opportunity to join Banks Long & Co come about?

I was approaching the end of my final year at University and I heard of a new opening. I knew a few people who worked here and I thought it would be a great opportunity to start my career

What persuaded you to join the team?

With their involvement in developing the key areas in Lincoln, I realised I’d be exposed to a wider variety of project experiences which would benefit me in the long run.

What do you enjoy most about Building and Cost Consultancy?

Our projects vary across the board so no two jobs are the same. I’ve mainly been involved in the Cornhill Quarter development so seeing that progress to what it is now gives you a great sense of achievement.

Who’s your favourite sports team?

Nottingham Forest seeing as I’m from Nottingham.

What’s your favourite thing about Lincoln?

Definitely the Red Arrows. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of seeing them fly over.

Most interesting property you have visited?

There isn’t one that stands out but when you work with old buildings you find so many interesting features such as; a tiled McDonalds mural from the 70’s that had been forgotten about. Although, many people remember a well pre-dating the 1800’s inside a property.

What’s something you’re planning on doing in the next year that you’ve never done?

Getting married and hoping to sit my APC later on in the year.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m big into CrossFit but anything active.

What do you listen to when you’re driving?

Radio X or podcasts like That Peter Crouch Podcast.
