Q&A with Sophie Slight, Surveyor at Banks Long & Co.

Find out what Sophie will be doing next as she shares her journey with the company

How did the opportunity to join Banks Long & Co come about?

I joined Banks Long & Co as a Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice in 2018. In December 2019, I completed my apprenticeship. I am now a Surveyor and on track to become an AssocRICS member.

What do you enjoy most about Management and Professional team?

I love the variety of work, no two days are the same! I also enjoy visiting properties all over the Midlands, it’s nice to get out and see the variety of properties we manage. I’m also very grateful for the team I work with, they are a great bunch of people, and I’m lucky to work with them.

What is your favourite film?

I don’t think I have a favourite, but I do really enjoy most of the marvel films, especially Avengers.
I love psychological thrillers too, especially ones with plot twists! My go to comfort film is probably The Great Gatsby!

What is your favourite TV show?

Probably The Witcher, only because I loved playing the games! I also love Criminal Minds, I’ve rewatched it too many times and swear, I could become a member of the Behavioural Analysis Unit...

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I spend a lot of my free time reading, at the gym or on my computer! I’m always trying a new hobby though, they never last long but I like to try things out! My latest project was upgrading my computer. I’ve also just rescued a dog from Cyprus too, so a lot of my free time is spent looking after her!

What’s your favourite thing about living and working in Lincoln?

As odd as this may sound, I enjoy the layout! In comparison to other towns and cities, it’s not too busy and there’s a good selection of restaurants!

What has been your biggest challenge at Banks Long & Co?

I think my progression from a Secretary to a Surveyor has been my biggest challenge, but I have loved every second of it. It’s sometimes intense, but I’ve learnt so much in the last few years, and I’m excited for the challenges which I have yet to face.

What’s something you’re planning on doing in the next year that you’ve never done?

I say this every year, but I’d eventually like to learn a second language. I’ve tried to learn three different languages, so it’s not going well! Maybe 2023 will be the year! I’m also hoping to become AssocRICS qualified.

What is your favourite restaurant?

This question is too difficult. I love Ole Ole, Huckleberrys, Wagamamas, the list could go on and on... I’m a massive foodie.
