SUPERMARKET INVESTMENT SIGNALS NEW JOBS

Up to 20 new jobs are promised for Lincoln as a major supermarket announces an expansion move.

Lincoln based chartered surveyor Banks Long & Co is delighted to reveal that it has leased a unit at One The Brayford, which overlooks the city’s Brayford Pool, to Tesco which is due to open an Express store there later this year.

Banks Long & Co Director James Butcher, for developer Jackson & Jackson (J&J), has been marketing the three units which sit below J&J’s  89 luxury apartments, which have proved extremely attractive to a range of buyers.

“We are pleased to have acted on behalf of J&J in the letting of Unit 3 to Tesco on a 10-year lease. We believe its presence will attract other retail and leisure companies searching for city centre premises in this attractive waterside setting,” he said.

“This is a fantastic location.  The units are in a lively part of the city forming the prime leisure pitch in the City, which is home to a variety of restaurants, hotels and Lincoln’s Odeon Cinema.

“They are also directly opposite the University of Lincoln campus, on the doorstep of thousands of student homes and close to the busy residential West End, so there is great potential to catch regular and passing trade.”

Tesco has taken the largest commercial unit at One The Brayford. The neighbouring number 1 unit offers 3,298 q ft of accommodation and Unit 2 extends to 2,676 sq ft.

Banks Long & Co is jointly marketing the units with the Leeds office of JLL.

A Tesco spokesperson said:  “We’re pleased to be opening a new Tesco Express in Lincoln later this year.  We look forward to serving the local community and being part of the exciting new development on Brayford Waterfront.”
