The client: Lidl Great Britain Ltd.
Banks Long Lead: James Butcher
The Brief: Banks Long & Co were asked to act on behalf of Lidl over a number of years in the site assembly of five parcels of land all falling within different ownerships, extending to around three acres and comprising four houses and a restaurant.
Lidl trusted the Commercial Property Agency team with this complex acquisition, after working with us on a number of projects over the years.
Banks Long & Co Solution: Lidl had identified that there was a demand for a store in the North Hykeham area. The agents found and introduced the location as one that would be suitable and that met their requirements.
After ensuring the client was happy with the land’s potential, the various owners were approached and the acquisition of the five parcels of land was negotiated in a multi-million-pound deal.
The result: The land assembly and acquisitions teams used their local knowledge and contacts to acquire the parcels of land within Lidl’s target budget.
So confident in the potential success of securing Planning Permission for a new unit on this particular site, Lidl purchased the land unconditionally, before obtaining Planning Permission.
