Client: University of Lincoln
Banks Long Lead: James Butcher
The brief: The University of Lincoln has invested more than £350m in its buildings and facilities over the last 25 years. As one of the UK’s top modern universities in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, thousands of students enrol each year at its various campuses across the city.
In 2019, the University of Lincoln asked Banks Long & Co to acquire a certain number of additional bed spaces for them to accommodate for increasing demand.
The client needed the acquisition team to locate and acquire properties in close proximity to the university that met their high-quality standards and requirements.
Banks Long & Co solution: Through broad knowledge of the area and networks established over a number of years, the agents acquired a number of properties including Rose House a large newbuild on the corner of Tentercroft Street and the High Street for the University of Lincoln.
The results: The property, which had 11 two-bedroom apartments and 3 ground floor retail spaces, enjoyed an ideal location close to the main University Campus and layout that appealed to the client.
After introducing the site to the University, Banks Long & Co provided valuation advice and negotiated the purchase from the selling agent, before overseeing the transaction through to completion and now acts on behalf of the University as commercial property agents for the three ground-floor retail units.
